About This Position
Position Reports to: Technical Director of Video Production
Department: Marketing and Communications
FLSA Status: Exempt
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., some evenings and weekends
Position Summary
The Video Producer creates visual and audio assets that support and tell the story of Franciscan University’s mission and vision and coordinates video production for major campus events. Hires and trains student workforce to serve as primary on-campus video production crew. Serves as producer, line producer, and editor for EWTN’s monthly television show, Franciscan University Presents. Assists with production and post-production of creative promotional content including short-form and long-form videos, presidential messages, and commercials. Assists with data management tasks as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as producer for EWTN’s television show, Franciscan University Presents, book and interview students, faculty, or staff for “Other Voices” segments, and select clips. Also serve as line producer overseeing student production crew, with a 12-episode recording schedule per year. Edit Franciscan University Presents for broadcast and online distribution. Serve as line producer for other productions as assigned.
- Execute the video production planning, streaming, recording, postproduction, and delivery of final formats for broadcast and web distribution of University events that serve an external audience. This includes Convocation, Opening Fall Semester Mass, Baccalaureate, Commencement, Fall and Spring Academic Lecture Series, academic talks, occasional weekend conferences, and other events.
- Hire and train a student video crew on all aspects of production in the studio, and in the field, from pre-production to production to post-production until end product is completed and approved by stakeholders.
- Assist with pre-production, production and post-production of promotional content serving Advancement, Admissions, Academics, Student Life, Outreach & Evangelization, Leadership Institute, etc.
- Assist with data management tasks including footage logging, data archival, and retrieval.

Work Experience
- Minimum of three years of experience in video production, preferably in field production or events.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a television studio setting.
- Minimum of three years of experience in video editing.
- Minimum of two years of experience conducting interviews, working with talent, selecting clips that tell the story.

Technical Skills
- Must be able to operate many types of video and audio equipment and understand all stages of video production: pre-production, production, editing, distribution, and data management.
- Must have working knowledge of studio equipment; ability to plan and execute multi-camera productions.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software (Premiere, After Effects, Audition, Photoshop) required. Familiarity with Avid Media Composer strongly preferred.
- Experience with both PC and Mac platforms is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Catholic theology and ability to communicate Catholic theology in video productions.
- Basic computer troubleshooting instincts a plus.
Education/Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in fine arts in film and media, digital broadcasting and production, communications with concentration in multi-media, or other related field. Avid Media Composer User Certification a plus.
Workplace Factors
- Ability to stand with a camera or sit at computer for extended hours.
- Ability to lift and carry 30-40 pounds of television equipment.
