The Senior Video Editor is responsible for the post-production of longer format video programs produced at Mayo Clinic. These programs are generally those with larger budget and have a higher profile and visibility that reach Mayo’s most important audiences: patients, staff, referring physicians, Board of Governors, Board of Trustees, and other clients. The Senior Video Editor has primary responsibility for all technical and graphic/aesthetic aspects of these programs, from concept through production and final dissemination as well as primary responsibility for the methods and strategies used in the post-production of these shows. Assists other members of the video editing team with production decisions related to program content and overall look and feel. Utilizes creativity, self-motivation, and a high degree of artistic, technical, and computer skills in the completion of duties and tasks. Manages many large projects at the same time. Insures final product complies with Mayo Clinic’s identity and brand management guidelines. Provides consultation to Mayo staff with questions related to post-production. Assist the Principle Video Editor with post-production activities such as budgeting, equipment research, and scheduling of projects. May be asked to assist with recorded and live video production. Works effectively at all levels of the Institution from the allied health staff to the Board of Governors.

This position will create video and motion pieces for patient education projects. You’ll work with an established and growing powerhouse of creatives who are elevating creative and educating patients in new and interesting ways. The productions will vary in format, tactics, content, and audience- and reflect the expertise across our institution. In some instances, we’ll test and learn, in other projects we’ll execute beautiful storytelling start to finish.

Primary Responsibilities Include

Creative collaboration with Executive Producers, Senior Directors, and stakeholders.

Reviewing source footage

Creating rough-cuts and final cuts based on scripts or other creative briefs

Creating required motion graphics

Selecting appropriate music tracks

Adding color correction and audio sweetening

Creating subtitles

Exporting and deliver video files

Iterating based on stakeholder feedback

Performing asset management

This position is primarily remote. However, the preference is this individual live within driving distance of the Rochester, MN Mayo Clinic campus for occasional onsite expectations.


Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Media or Mass Communications, or related field and a minimum of four (4) years’ direct, demonstrated experience in a professional level or corporate video editing and experience in motion graphic design, including knowledge of non-linear editing systems. Normal color vision and hearing required. Post-graduate study preferred. Master’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated understanding of both analog and digital video, motion graphics, audio production, music sweetening, and other related skills. Proficiency in video project management is critical. Demonstrated verbal and written communications skills, and a broad knowledge and understanding of current media technologies and challenges. Knowledge in the compatibility, types and conversions of file formats used industry-wide.
